Malaysian aid convoy arrives in Gaza Strip

Malaysian aid convoy arrives in Gaza Strip

Relief aid and medicines from the Aman Palestine Institute in Malaysia with an estimated worth of $100,000US arrived in Gaza on Sunday morning via the Egyptian Rafah crossing.

The relief aid was accompanied by a delegation including 12 Malaysian notable personalities, consisting of representatives of Malaysian NGOs and television journalists, who were not granted permission to pass the crossing as a result of failure of coordination, according to the Egyptian crossing administration.

Head of the Aman Palestine Institute in Malaysia, Abdullah Zeek, who is still waiting on clearance from the Egyptian government to enter the Gaza Strip, stated that the aid is reassurance to the Palestinian people that they are not isolated from the Islamic world, adding that the Malaysian people have a strong interest in the Palestinian cause and provide ongoing support for the people under siege in the Gaza Strip.

For his part, Omar Siam, Executive Director of the Bureau of Aman Palestine in Gaza, confirmed that the aid arrived in Gaza, noting that it will be distributed to the needy and to medical institutions in the Strip.
